NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises revealed its 2017 Upfront theme of “Shift Happens,” a nod to the changes taking place in Hispanic media.  To celebrate the Hispanic “shift” that Telemundo has identified and led in the Hispanic media industry, the Spanish-language network will hold an exclusive event for advertising clients and business partners on Monday, May 15 at The Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom.

"NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises is dynamically redefining Hispanic Media with innovative programming that is not only setting a new standard, but most importantly representing the U.S. Latino experience,” said Cesar Conde, Chairman, NBCUniversal International and NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. “Our strategy is paying off as we continue to deliver double-digit growth. We are thrilled to be the industry leader by bringing our audiences the latest in original content and formats, innovative digital platforms and world-class sports such as the FIFA World Cup.”

In recent years, the Hispanic media landscape has been shifting dramatically with the evolution of consumption patterns – audiences are now demanding new formats and higher quality content.  Bilingual and ambicultural audiences, defined as 200 percenters – 100% Latino and 100% American, express their cultural ties by tuning into Spanish-language television.  Telemundo has evolved with this increasingly growing Hispanic segment by offering new formats such as the Super Series™, bio-pics, serial dramas, virtual reality tied to scripting programming and contemporary storytelling, filling a void in Hispanics’ insatiable appetite for quality content in Spanish across all platforms.

As part of the NBCUniversal portfolio, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises and its brands Telemundo and Universo will join the NBCUniversal advertising Upfront presentation that morning at Radio City Music Hall.  NBCUniversal’s upfront will showcase broadcast and cable networks including Bravo, CNBC, E!, Esquire Network, Golf Channel, MSNBC, NBC Entertainment, NBC News, NBC Sports Network, Oxygen, Sprout, Syfy and USA.
