MTV is very proud to have Julieta’s name added to the great list of artists that are part of the Unplugged family.”

“This show was important not only for what an Unplugged represents, but also for what it means to me musically,” commented Julieta Venegas. ¨”I actually feel that this will definitely change my direction because it was amazing experience!”

The show provided an acoustic platform for the Tijuana native to showcase new songs and perform some of her biggest hits in an intimate setting before a live audience. During the show, Venegas integrated an eclectic mix of rhythm and harmony by incorporating an array of instruments including the tuba, clarinet, xylophone, flute and a string quartet, among others, giving a new twist to some of her classic hits such as “Limón y Sal,” “Lento” and “Me Voy.” New songs included “El Presente”, “Algún Día”, “Mira la Vida” and “Ilusión.”

Venegas was joined onstage by two-time Oscar winner Gustavo Santaolalla, who accompanied her with a six-string banjo and background vocals for “Algún Día”, and renowned Brazilian singer, Marisa Monte, for “Ilusión,” a new song with Spanish and Portuguese lyrics. Also, Spain’s La Mala Rodríguez provided a strong hip-hop infusion on “Eres Para Mí”, while Porter’s lead singer, Juan Carlos Son, joined the Mexican sensation for a unique performance of “De Mis Pasos.” In addition, Natalia Lafourcade formed part of Venegas’ orchestra playing various instruments throughout the evening, while accomplished Brazilian composer/arranger, Jacques Morelenbaum, accompanied Venegas on cello for “Cómo Sé.” Venegas closed the evening with her popular hit “Me Voy.”

Jose Tillán served as Executive Producer of the show. The producer of the show was Michael Dagnery, Vice President of Ad Sponsored Development and Special Projects for MTV/VH1 Latin America and MTV Tr3s.
