The only show of its kind, the Billboard Latin Music Awards is an annual event, honoring the year's biggest and brightest stars. Finalists for the awards ceremony are chosen based on their performances on Hot Latin Tracks and The Billboard Latin 50 charts, which comprise airplay and sales. The measuring period for the nominee selection is January 30, 2000, to January 29, 2001.
The Billboard Music Awards Show caps Billboard's Latin Music Conference, presented by Heineken and in association with HBO, which will be held April 24-26 at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach.
