Both Alvarez and Estevez were previously an integral part of the sales management team at Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) in New York 10 months ago. They were hired away to help launch WNNY-AM in NYC.
In a sudden move, Raul Alarcon Jr. - Chairman & CEO of Spanish Broadcasting System and Maria Elena Llansa - VP Sales Eastern Region at SBS, have brought back Luis Alvarez formerly VP & GM and Philip Estevez formerly GSM at Mega Communications.
The move leaves the top two key management position vacant at the crosstown Spanish News Talk station of Mega Communications, WNNY-AM in New York. The exit of both Alvarez & Estevez has required that Alfredo Alonso - President of Mega Communications add the daily management of the station to his duties.
Alvarez rejoins SBS (WSKQ-FM & WPAT-FM) as General Sales Manager and Estevez will assume the Local Sales Manager duties. Both will report directly to Maria Elena Llansa. Mickie Reyes will assume the National Sales managers position from General Sales Manager of the SBS New York properties.
The sales management team at SBS in New York will report directly to Maria Elena Llansa - VP Sales Eastern Region, who is based in Miami, FL.
