D.C. United announced that Radio America (WACA 1540 AM) has been named the club’s official Spanish-language radio partner for the 2001 season, the fourth season the popular station will carry United matches. Radio America will broadcast all 28 regular season games live.

“The Hispanic fans in our market have been loyal and passionate supporters of D.C. United since day one,” said United President and General Manager Kevin Payne. “We are very pleased to again partner with Radio America to make our matches available to our Hispanic fans in their native language.”

Radio personality Danilo Noel Diron, who hosts “La Mesa Redonda” (Round Table), a weekly soccer-only show, will again be the primary personality on WACA’s United broadcasts, providing the color commentary. Veteran broadcaster Herbert Baires will handle the play-by-play duties.
