America's Kidz Network (WAM!) announces the production of 13 half-hours of its new original series "Music Alive!: Live," which will premiere next fall. The series will feature some of the biggest names from all octaves of the music business -- rap, hip-hop, jazz, classical, rock, soul, etc. "Music Alive: Live" was created by Alan Ett, president and CEO of Creative Production Group (CPG) and Ron Solomon, creator and former executive producer of several NBC shows including "California Dreams" and "Hang Time."

"This engaging series comes in response to what our viewers tell us they want -- music, celebrities, a kid host they can relate to, advice on how to realize their dreams, and information on breaking through to become a pop star," says Midge Pierce, vice president of programming for WAM! "It's a winning combination."

"We are very excited about the prospect of working with WAM! on the development and distribution of this very important teen oriented educational music project," says Ett. "It is the vision of the people of WAM! and the Starz Encore Group who have given life to 'Music Alive!: Live' and we look forward to a long and very enjoyable relationship."

"Music Alive!: Live" will be hosted by fictional host Jared Wayne, a very hip, very hot teen musician in pursuit of his dream of becoming the biggest Grammy winner of all time.

Each week from his studio apartment, Jared will teach WAM! viewers everything there is to know about music through his unique point-of-view. Jared imagines meeting the stars of his dreams and learns from them: who inspired their music, how they overcame frustrations, obstacles, and setbacks. These "in your dreams" segments morph into "riffs through time" as Jared imagines what it would be like inside creative minds like Jimi Hendrix or Beethoven. The combination of the most current music, celebrity power, motivation, information, and the historical aspect, gives this series a unique twist -- substance and kid-appeal. Jared's pad becomes a cool place for teens and preteens to hang and discover their dreams -- from meeting big stars to becoming one.

The series is inspired in part from the magazine Music Alive (500,000 circulation), a Cherry Lane Music Company/Hal Leonard Publishing Company, that has access to every major record label and artist. The magazine serves as a pop guide for young people with profiles on contemporary stars, music trivia and features like "Living Legends" and the "Year In Pop." Plus it serves as a teacher's guide with a monthly lesson plan insert. The magazine will be available to all WAM! affiliate Cable in the Classroom members.

WAM! is the first and only commercial-free children's channel dedicated entirely to providing kid-friendly, socially responsible programming 24-hours a day for adolescents 8- to 16-years old.
