As it moves toward a network transformation, mun2 will continue to add more linear properties and digital content from NBC Sports.

The 40-million subscriber channel will unveil a new name on Super Bowl, when it televises the NFL championship game for the first time, according to mun2  Rubén Mendiola, who was speaking at the Hispanic Television Summit here on Oct. 2.

Mendiola was joined by legendary soccer commentator Andrés Cantor, and Gary Zenkel, president of NBC Olympics, in detailing some of the changes that are reshaping mun 2.
“We believe that mun2 can grow into a much bigger channel for Latinos, encompassing their most prized possession, sports,” said Mendiola.

He said that mun2 is integrating trivia segments into its EPL presentations as a means to give viewers a better explanation of what the top UK soccer circuit is all about, as well as show a different look on the themes and the players

With 100 games scheduled during the 2014-15 season, EPL is off to a fast start on mun2: The network has scored a 189% audience advance with its EPL coverage thus far this season, said Mendiola.

The network’s growing sports lineup also features WWE action in primetime, Liga MX, Mexican soccer and a five-game NFL slate that will culminate with Super Bowl  XLIX on Feb. 1. and the unveiling of the new channel name.

“I’m very excited about this and I hope that everyone who speaks Spanish will be able to enjoy everything we have to offer,” said Mendiola.

Those watching the channel in 2015 also will see the debut of full schedule of the NASCAR circuit in Mexico and FIFA action. Cantor outlined a schedule that will feature the under 17 and 20 futbl competitions, beach soccer action and the Women’s World Cup from Canada.
 
The panel also discussed how Olympics coverage had expanded on Telemundo beyond soccer and boxing from the Beijing and London Games. There will be more to come on TV and flanking digital services from Rio in 2016.

"The number of hours will only continue to grow as mun2 is a coverage platform," said Zenkel.
